SUMMER CAMP COUNSELORS NEEDED (click here for application)

If you are at least 16 years old by July 1 and enjoy working with children in Grades K-8, a job at the Colts Neck Summer Camp, held at Conover Rd. Elementary. and Cedar Dr. Schools, will be a fun and profitable way to spend your summer days.  Camp is scheduled to begin Mon., June 29 and end Fri., August 7, with counselors working 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.  Application deadline April 28, 2015. Counselors in Training applications accepted at 15 years old before August 7.



Our Youth gymnastics program is designed to introduce children to the basics of tumbling and the use of various gymnastic equipment, including the parallel bars, ramps, and balance beam.  Instruction for Kindergarten to 8th grade will be offered at both the beginner and intermediate levels.  The program is under the direction of U.S.A.G. certified instructor Bonnie Starnes.

Don’t feel ready to jump right in to a Nia dance class?  Learn the proper alignment and form of the 52 Moves of the Nia Technique in this Intro series, as well as how to develop your Sensory IQ to safely and efficiently condition your body.  Meredith will also guide your experience in how the 9 movement forms (Tai Chi, Tae Kwon Do, Aikido, Duncan, Jazz, & Modern Dance, Yoga,  Feldenkrais & The Alexander Technique) are used in a Nia class for physical and energetic cross training to increase balance in your body through stability, mobility, flexibility, agility and strength.

Based on the success of men's open basketball, we have formed young men's open basketball. Available to an age group from 19 years old to 34, this league will play every Tuesday and Friday, in April and will continue into June. The emphasis of this program is all about the enjoyment of the game of basketball.  Must be a Colts Neck Resident or a graduate of Colts Neck High School.

The Colts Neck Trail Riders Club, an organization supported by the Department of Recreation and Parks, will once again be sponsoring a number of events during the Spring season. The pace series involves competitive cross country rides over a short marked course beginning at the Bucks Mill Recreation Area. Teams of riders will compete to come the closest to the pre-determined time, and any style of riding or tack is permitted.  Safety gear, such as hard hats, is encouraged. Learn the art of horsemanship through this quality introductory course at Wood Hollow Farm, Colts Neck. Cathy Poppe, owner and trainer, has offered classes through CN Recreation and Parks for over twenty years and provides a wide variety of horses for every level of rider. Cathy is a USEF recognized judge in three major disciplines. With over thirty years of equestrian training at Wood Hollow, she has a proven record from novice riders to those competing on a national level. Colts Neck Recreation and Parks, in conjunction with Performance Canine Association (PCA), will again be featuring Coursing Ability Test (CAT) practice on scheduled Friday evenings and Sundays. In addition, official CAT's, sponsored by AKC clubs, are to be held at our home course at Bucks Mill Park Recreation Area. The CAT's provide residents an opportunity to earn titles on their dogs. All dogs are eligible to compete, pure bred as well as mixed breed, after acquiring an AKC registration number. Upgrades in equipment and procedures have made events seamless.
